Get Leo the home & care he needs
Leo is a kind-hearted man who faces unique challenges. With learning disabilities and diabetes, he needs care and is not able to live by himself.
Leo has been living with his mother in South Africa for the past 12 years – until she died suddenly and unexpectedly from aggressive metastatic breast cancer 4 months ago, leaving him without a home or caregiver.
After the funeral, his sister Kari had no choice but to bring him back to the UK with her, where she has lived with her family for over 23 years.
Leo would love to stay in the UK, but this is simply not possible due to complicated and costly visa restrictions. And Kari is now faced with finding him a residential care home back in South Africa, without the funds to do so.
That’s why we are trying to raise funds to ensure Leo's safe journey back to South Africa, and to get him set up in a residential home that can offer him the care he needs.
The funds will go towards the cost of their flights, the basics he needs for his life there, including a bed and clothes, the first few months of his residential care fees, and his essential medical care for his diabetes until he can be properly set up within the health system there.
The clock is ticking: Leo needs to leave the UK before December, before his current visitor visa expires.
Without your support, Leo’s future is a scary uncertainty. He faces homelessness in South Africa, without the ability to look after himself – a potentially life or death situation.
Your contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal of providing him with a stable home, access to vital medicine and a hopeful future.
Thank you for reading and being part of Leo's journey.
