Tamarya Sims @plantswitht (she/they) is a Black farmer, herbalist, beekeeper, educator, environmentalist/ecologist and food justice advocate in Asheville, Western North Carolina.

She has a degree in Environmental Studies with a focus in Plant Ecology.  In early 2021, while working at the SAHC Community Farm and participating in a farm business program, Tamarya started her first business, Soulfull Simone Farm, but dreams of owning her own large piece of farmland <<as debt free as possible>> where folks can come to heal and learn without judgment.  Preferably with a stream and forest! She imagines trails, a food forest, medicine, love, life, family, community, and ancestral healing.

Access to land directly determines who has the opportunity to succeed in agriculture. Of the 3.4 million farmers in the United States today, only 45,000 are Black.  White farmers now account for 98 percent of the owned acres.  The inherited wealth gap between white and Black, Indigenous, and other POC individuals is particularly challenging in agriculture, which is a capital-intensive career dependent on access to land. 

Racial Justice,  Food justice, and  Land justice are intertwined.
