HELP ME GET MY GRANDPA TO ALASKA ONE LAST TIME
Clyde Elmore spent his life photographing plants, animals, and environments around the world. After his Alzheimer's diagnosis, his granddaughter Spencer (me) took to social media (@clyde_elmore_photography) to help spread awareness of his beautiful and unappreciated photographs. After Clyde's instagram went viral, I had numerous discussions with him about his past photography experiences and the whole family noticed improvements with him cognitively. I started documenting my experiences with him recreating old photos of his taking him to a place he used to photograph many times over, Yosemite National Park. I didn't know it at the time, but what I was doing with him is called "reminiscence therapy" and it can vastly improve Clyde's cognitive ability as someone with Alzheimers.
This Documentary follows Clydes adventure recreating past photographs of his while his family learns how to best show up for him through his diagnosis. He doesn't remember much about the photographs he's taken or the places he's gone, but there's one place Clyde always remembers -- Alaska. He used to go all the time to many parts of Alaska, photographing polar bear, grizzly bear, northern lights, eagles, and more. To get him safely in front of a brown bear in Katmai National Park one last time would be a dream and the ultimate exercise in reminiscence therapy. Thats the opportunity I want to raise money for and with enough funds I can take you all along with Clyde and I, finishing the documentary and getting my grandpa back to Alaska one last time.
How the funds will be used:
- Flights to Anchorage Alaska & second flights to Katmai National Park.
- Lodging during our stay.
- Purchasing a bear photography two or three day excursion.
- Additional Equipment rental - Camera/audio/file storage.
- Flights back home.
Any money left over that we don't use I will be donating to the Alzheimers Association https://www.alz.org/ which we already support at (www.clydeelmorephotography.com) and if we don't raise enough money to go to Alaska I will attempt to take him to Yellowstone National Park instead; which is more affordable and donate the rest.
Alaska trips can be expensive some of these bear excursions can cost $3,000 to $4,000 per person or even more sometimes and we need to purchase air fare and lodging at times. I really appreciate any funds donated here -- it means so much. Thank you from my family to yours!!
