Get Benny out of the camper and into a house!

Please, if you can find it in your heart to help a family that has been through absolute hell, we could really use a hand up to reach this goal. my daughter is adding her paychecks in as well, but it's just not going to be enough. We really need the power of community to make this happen, to get Benny into a better environment where his physical recovery can move forward once again, where he will have a much more fulfilling daily life, where he can just be more comfortable in general. Currently, we live in a 30ft camper which has truly hindered Bennys recovery with all of the limitations in space and access. He deserves so much better We've been in this camper for over a year since we came home from the hospital, as we had no other choice. But now, we have the ability to change everything! Melina was approved for the home loan, we've paid the escrow, paid the appraisal and inspection, and now we just need help raising the money for the down payment that is due at closing which is February 29th. Only3 weeks away! I know its a lot to ask, but if anyone deserves it benny does if we can just get 1000 people to donate $12 each, we will have reached the goal. With compassion and community we CAN do this! Inspection is this Friday and we will finally be getting a video of the house to show you all. So stay tuned!! And for any who aren’t familiar with our story and want to know why we can’t do this on our own, why we need help…. On January 31 of 2022, two years ago, our entire lives were upended when my eldest child, Benny, was in a terrible car crash. His boyfriend, the driver, passed away on site, and my son was life flighted to the ICU with a severe brain injury and heart failure. A mothers worst nightmare. Initially he was not expected to survive the night, he was given zero chance. However, much against the doctor's advisement, I followed my gut, and I did not give up on him; and I refused to let the doctors give up on him. And thank goodness i did because he survived! Being the devoted mom that i am, I lived full-time in the hospital with him for the following 6 months, praying with every breath for his recovery. However, because of this devotion to stay vigilant at his side, I was unable to continue work as a paint contractor and I lost everything. But it was worth it! During our time in the hospital, my son astounded the doctors, opening his eyes and moving his hands after a month; answering commands after two months; and taking his first steps with help after 6 months. He still has quite a long way to go, but he has truly come so much farther than he was ever expected to. He cannot walk by himself or use his hands very well just yet, but he is improving every day. Cognitively he has recovered beautifully and is able to communicate and remember everything. He has every chance for a full recovery, but one thing has severely held him back for these past two years in his physical recovery—our current living situation. After six months in the hospital and with my becoming his full-time caregiver, I was not able to return to work. Because of this, our living situation was greatly reduced as we were forced to live in our 30ft camper for the past year and a half. We had no choice as we were living solely on my savings in that first year, while waiting for his disability to be approved— not enough for rent. Now, we have his disability check and I have slowly been building a small home-based business as a stained-glass artist, and my daughter Melina has also been employed for the past year. We are well on our way to a new normal, except for this one thing. We desperately need a place to call home. A place that my son can more comfortably live; a larger space that we can do his PT at home; a tub that he can actually relax in, rather than a lawn chair in a campground shower. Yes, it has been an interesting challenge to care for him in such a small and difficult-to-navigate environment that is far from wheelchair friendly. And now, we finally have the chance to change that! Last month we were approved for a home loan! So we started hunting for the perfect house and omg we found it. We looked at so many houses but NONE fit our familys needs like this one. It’s so perfect! So we put in an offer, not wanting to lose it, and the seller accepted our offer! We have paid escrow, inspection and appraisal, but we need help raising the money for the down payment—and fast! Closing is on February 29th I know this is a big ask and i know it seems impossible but this girl believes in miracles… obviously! If we can just find 1000 people willing to donate $12 each, we can reach this goal… or 500 people to donate $23 each… or 200 people to donate $58. Community love I know you don’t know me or my family, but I’m hoping that our story will find the right eyes and the right hearts that might be willing to help a family that has been through absolute hell. We just need a hand up to reach this dream and a better life for my sweet babies. Please, if you can donate thank you so much for at least reading this far
