#GeorgiaStrong: Her Battle Against Leukemia
Donation protected
Georgia is our 2.5 year old granddaughter who was admitted to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware on September 21, 2023. The doctors quickly went to work to find out what was causing Georgia to be so weak and pale in color. Her lab results showed that her Red Blood Cell, Platelet, and Hemoglobin counts were critically low. This initiated the first of several blood and platelet transfusions for Georgia, and also warranted a Bone Marrow biopsy to get a better idea of what was occurring inside her body. The biopsy results confirmed our worst fear...
B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, an aggressive and quick-developing cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Georgia continued to receive blood and platelet transfusions before receiving her first and second round of chemotherapy on September 26, 2023, all the while trying to hold that beautiful smile on her face. She is currently admitted as an inpatient and will remain in the hospital until the Doctors feel she is stable enough to return home. Georgia will need to undergo several procedures, testing, and treatments over the next two and a half years, resulting in multiple trips to and from her home in Maryland to the Childrens Hospital in Delaware.
All donations made to this GoFundMe will directly support Georgia and her family, including parents (David and Whitney) and her older brother (Gavin) as they try to instill some normalcy for Georgia.
Georgia WILL beat this cancer. She is strong. She is a warrior. She gives us all strength and needs all of our prayers and support.
