Georges fight to recovery
Kia ora everyone, thanks for taking the time to read and share, I really appreciate it!
My heart breaks with utter disbelief that I am setting this page up or even writing what I am about to write, especially in the face of such worldwide personal and financial uncertainty
My wee mate George just 20 months old, the son of my longest and dearest friend Niki, is an adorable kid with the sweetest spirit, cuddles that would melt anyone’s heart and has a giggle that is so infectious - just like his Mums.
On the day of New Zealand’s nationwide lockdown, we received the devastating news that George was diagnosed with T-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and Tumour Lysis.
With not a moment to spare or even time to process such tough news, George was flown down to the Child Haematology Oncology Centre (CHOC) in Christchurch to begin his fight for recovery with an immediate 41 week Chemo treatment programme. This is a scenario that no parent or friend should ever face, but as life does sometimes, it can throw us the hardest of hurdles to endure.
For those of you reading this now who have been through cancer know that putting all this into words can never truly convey the feelings and emotions that surround such a challenging situation.
At this stage, George is facing a two-year treatment plan split between Christchurch and Wellington. The amount of traveling involved for this family with their newborn Florence, will take a toll I am sure.
Personally, if I can help these two in any way, I will. Niki and Gav are two of life’s greatest humans who would do the same in return.
So, I kindly wanted to put it out there that if we canplease in anyway come together and help support my two dearest friends and their gorgeous young family.
Many I know are asking how they can support Gav & Nik, so what better way than to set up a fund for George.
Let’s see George through this fight.
Many thanks and kia kaha everyone.
Love.
Kate
