Genspect: A healthy approach to sex and gender

Genspect is an international alliance campaigning for a healthy approach to sex and gender.

It was founded in 2021 by parents of gender-questioning kids, as well as concerned clinicians who shared their fears. Thousands of mothers and fathers are deeply unhappy about the poor healthcare their children are receiving. For years, clinicians have known that gender therapists are ignoring the complex factors in young people's lives. From autism and ADHD to eating disorders and trauma, major issues are being shoved to one side in the rush to medical transition. Parents of gay and lesbian teenagers believe that internalised homophobia is driving their children to seek hormones and surgeries. If these issues aren't addressed, we'll see even more gender-non-conforming people regretting the life-long changes they made to their bodies.

Since its founding, Genspect has expanded to include detransitioners, desisters, and trans people unhappy with the level of healthcare they received, as well as other professionals such as journalists and educators. What unites us is our belief that a rational and compassionate approach to gender distress is possible, safeguarding children from harm, and protecting the rights of all individuals.

Your generous donation will help us to:

· Write and ghost-write articles to appear in the press, articulating the concerns we have an advocating for a more rational approach than the current “affirmative” model.
· Book TV and radio interviewers and podcasts, so parents’ and detransitioners’ voices can be heard by the wider public.
· Create fresh, engaging graphics and videos, presenting the issues of gender-questioning young people in an accessible way.
· Broadcast our own exclusive content, giving you a chance to hear from the people making the news in their own words.
· Publish guidance notes, helping parents, loved ones, and professionals navigate the complexities of dealing with gender-questioning young people.
· Develop statistical resources, making rigorous peer-reviewed research accessible to the wider public.
· Lobby politicians, journalists, clinicians and educators, helping them understand the complexity of identity development.
· Host webinars for parents, detransitioners and professionals, creating a chance to share ideas with some of the world’s leading specialists in gender.
· Generate working relationships with clinicians, helping connect the science to the real stories.
· Unite thousands of people from across the world, so that they can speak with one voice.
· And much, much more. We’re open to your ideas: get in touch, and tell us what you’d like to see us do.

The money we raise will also help us to meet our overheads, so we can work to improve the care that young gender-questioning people receive.

We believe that change is in the air: help us make that change.
