Genevieve's Midwifery Medical Mission

This coming January I'm traveling to El Paso, Texas to spend 3-6 months at Maternidad La Luz, a midwifery clinic & birth center that serves low-income women on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. This opportunity is one that I'm thrilled to take on, as it's an intersection of two of the things I'm most passionate about--birth work and ministry to those in need.

Since graduating college, I've been apprenticing under a local midwife as I work toward my midwifery license. At Maternidad La Luz, I'll be able to offer the skills and experience that I've gained in meaningful service to the community surrounding the clinic's walls.

Pregnancy and birth encapsulate some of the most transformative, intimate, and memorable moments of a woman's life, and the midwifery model of care is a healthy, sacred way to nurture, support, and educate women through these processes. Maternidad La Luz is a rarity among birth centers, as it strives towards making midwifery care accessible to all birthing women, from all walks of life.

In the month before I leave, I'm hoping to raise enough funds for tuition, living costs, travel expenses, and supplies-- so I am exceedingly grateful for any donation you can offer!
