On May 12, 2020 we lost Gene West, a dedicated and loving single father who was raising  his twin 16 year old children, Golden and Jetta. He was 56 years old. Gene was a great person and cared for and accepted anyone who crossed his path. He had been ill since the end of April, and died in his sleep. 4 years prior we said goodbye to Shellaine West, Gene's soul mate, wife and mother to the twins. We know he is happy to be reunited with Shell and the two of them are likely dancing and making others smile up in heaven! They had a special connection that inspired love in the hearts of many. He leaves behind a shocked and devastated family and we are coming together to support Golden and Jetta, who lost both of their parents by age 16. 

Golden and Jetta are truly remarkable and resilient young people, despite their circumstances. Jetta excels at academics and is planning on taking 5 AP courses her junior year. She has been chosen out of a large group of students to represent her school at the National Student Leadership Conference in Washington DC this summer. Her dream is to attend UC Berkeley. Golden will be a sophomore next year and anyone who knows him knows he has a heart of gold. He is an incredible singer and has been in performance choirs, and is attending a performing arts high school. He is also interested in Engineering, Robotics, and Coding. 

Fortunately, the twins grandmother and earth angel Iris will be taking care of these amazing kids and supporting them during this time, along with the support of Gene's older daughter Sabra. They will stay living in Las Vegas. We humbly ask for your financial contributions so that we can support them with their day to day needs. Any extra funds that we raise will be dedicated to their college expenses. 

It is understandably a hard time for a lot of people, and anything you can contribute would be wonderful. Anyone who knew Gene and Shell were touched by their love and generosity towards others.
