Hello, my name is Nebula, and I am currently living in Melbourne, Australia. I have started this fundraising campaign to support my cousin family back home during a very difficult time
His name is Dipendra Basnet from Dailekh, Injured During Protest, Under Critical Care at Annapurna Hospital
Kathmandu, Sept 8 – Dipendra Basnet, a 27-year-old from Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality, Dailekh, sustained a severe head injury after being shot during the first day of protests in the capital. He is currently receiving treatment at Annapurna Hospital, where doctors have described his condition as critical.
It has now been confirmed that Basnet is the same individual seen in the widely shared and deeply disturbing photos and videos from the protests that went viral on social media. Those images remain etched in the memory of many as painful reminders of the incident.
Dipendra’s wife, 25-year-old Sangita Kumari Khadka Basnet, and their 4-year-old son, Asim Basnet, are by his side at the hospital, praying for his recovery. Family members say he was the main source of hope and livelihood for the household, and his grave condition has cast a shadow of sorrow and concern over the entire village.
According to medical reports, Dipendra has suffered an injury to the right side of his brain. Such trauma often carries the risk of paralysis on the left side of the body, raising further concerns about his long-term recovery and quality of life.
Prayers and well-wishes for Dipendra’s speedy recovery are pouring in from across the country.
