At LIT. clothing, we believe in more than just clothing — we believe in community, compassion and action. That’s why we’re launching Hoodies for the Homeless, a campaign to distribute warm hoodies to people sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation in the South West. As winter approaches, a warm hoodie can be more than just an item of clothing: it can mean protection from the cold, dignity and a reminder that you are not forgotten.

Why it matters


The homelessness crisis in the UK is deepening, and the need is urgent. Some key facts:

* On a single night in autumn 2024, an estimated 4,667 people (527 in the South West) were sleeping rough in England — a 20% increase since 2023.

* According to a report by Shelter England, in mid-2024 the estimated total number of homeless people (including those in temporary accommodation and rough sleeping) in the South West was 13,646 (rate of 1 in approximately 418 people)

* Groups already vulnerable (e.g., those with mental-health issues or disabilities) are disproportionately represented among those who find themselves homeless.

These numbers are more than statistics. They represent people — individuals, families, children — facing unimaginable hardships. And while our campaign won’t solve the root causes of homelessness, it can bring warmth, comfort and a human connection.

Our goal and how you can help

Our aim is to raise funds to:

1. Purchase high-quality hoodies designed by LIT. clothing — durable, warm, and branded with our message ‘LIFE IS TODAY.’ to help spread the message of solidarity and hope.

2. Partner with local homeless outreach services across the South West to distribute the hoodies directly to people sleeping rough.

3. Raise awareness — each hoodie carries a message: “LIFE IS TODAY”. We want recipients and donors alike to feel seen, connected, empowered.

In addition to donations made through this GoFundMe campaign, LIT. clothing will also be donating one our hoodies for every £100 made in sales until the 31 December 2025.

LIT. clothing is a new clothing brand based in the South West of England. We craft clothing as a reminder that life’s toughest chapters can lead to purpose, and today is where it begins.

In 2012, I graduated from university and my first job was as a Drug and Alcohol worker for both national charities and the NHS. I worked in this sector for 5 years, working alongside Avon and Somerset Police and local drug and alcohol charities to help those requiring support with substances who came in to contact with the criminal justice system for whatever reason, many of whom were homeless or residing in temporary accommodation. Whilst I no longer work in this field, homelessness and addressing the stigma associated with those who find themselves without a permanent home, is something that I remain extremely passionate about.
