UPDATE 12/2/2025
Wow! The generosity of this community is truly unparalleled. The Tomblins are deeply grateful for the way you are all coming together to honor Tayden and surround their family with love.

To provide clarity, here are a few details about this GoFundMe (with additional updates and background information below):
  • This fundraiser is solely to support the Tomblin family. Tayden’s dad, Tyler Tomblin, is receiving the funds directly on behalf of his family—his wife, Rosalyn, and their daughter, Hudzyn.
  • Nellie Hill is the organizer of this GoFundMe. She and her husband, Jon Payne, are longtime friends of the Tomblin family and are helping manage this website page.
  • All funds raised will go directly to Tyler Tomblin and will be used towards the family’s needs, including medical expenses, celebration-of-life and end-of-life costs, grief counseling, educational support for their daughter, and the establishment of a nonprofit in Tayden’s honor called “Non-Negotiable”, which will focus on helmet education and providing helmets to youth.

Thank you again for your compassion and support—you are making a meaningful difference for this family.

UPDATE 11/30/2025: Honor Walk, Flower Memorial, and What’s Next

On Saturday, 11/29, more than 50 friends and family joined the Tomblins for Tayden’s Honor Walk, accompanying him from the UCLA ICU to the OneLegacy organ donation center. Hospital staff lined the hallways alongside loved ones, filling the space with quiet support as the family took this final walk with Tayden—both a heartbreaking goodbye and a moment to honor the life-saving gifts his organ donation will bring to others.

Many described the procession as one of the most tragic yet profoundly beautiful experiences of their lives. The Tomblins, their extended family, and their friends continue to navigate immense grief, and they are finding strength in the compassion surrounding them.

Thank you to everyone who has shown up in whatever way you can. Your messages, donations, and presence are lifting the family as they face this unimaginable loss.

The family has started a flower memorial at Tayden’s parking spot in the senior lot at SMHS. Information on a celebration of life service will be shared at a later date.

GoFundMe Background Information:

This Thanksgiving weekend, the Tomblin family experienced a tragedy no family should ever endure. Their beloved 17-year-old son, Tayden, passed away from injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident while the family was visiting friends in the Los Angeles area. As we all process this devastating loss, many friends and loved ones are asking how they can help.

We are organizing this GoFundMe to support Tyler, Rosalyn, and Hudzyn as they grieve this unimaginable loss. No parent should ever have to walk through this kind of pain, and our hope is to lift as much financial burden as possible during this heartbreaking time. All contributions will go directly to the Tomblin family to support their immediate needs, provide space for healing, and give them the time they need to honor Tayden’s life.

We are asking for support—not because anything can ease their pain, but because removing even a small weight can help this family focus on holding one another up through the darkest days of their lives. Whatever you are able to give means more than we can express. Every donation, every share, and every kind thought brings comfort and reminds the Tomblins that they are not alone.

Thank you for surrounding this family with love, compassion, and community as they begin the difficult journey of healing.

With gratitude,
Friends of the Tomblins

UPDATE 11/30/2025: Below is a heartfelt message from Tayden’s high school principal, Dare Holdren:

Hello San Marcos Family.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I want to let you all know that 12th grader Tayden Tomblin passed away yesterday. Tayden suffered a head injury while skateboarding on Thanksgiving Eve, leading to his untimely and tragic death.

Tayden was a member of the water polo and swim teams, was a part of the Entrepreneurship Academy, and had an incredibly bright future ahead of him. Tayden was also a proud member of the Culinary Arts Program.

I spoke to his parents this morning and offered our deepest condolences during this extremely difficult time. My thoughts are with them, and all of you who knew Tayden and his family. It is a testament to his character that Tayden’s last act on earth was to serve as an organ donor.

In order to help support affected students and staff, we will have therapists and counselors available in the Royal Wellness Center throughout the day tomorrow and as needed moving forward.

A friend of the family has also set up a GoFundMe page if you are looking to help financially.

There are no words to express the loss of one of our students, and it would be futile for me to try now. I send my love to each and every one of you, and only ask that you honor Tayden’s memory by continuing to cherish your friends, your family, and yourselves.

Principal Holdren
