Hi my name is Razia and I’m fundraising for my sister and her family. She has two young kids (age of 4 and 5) and she lives in Afghanistan.

As we all are aware that Afghanistan's economic crisis has loomed for years; the result of poverty, conflict and drought. But after the Taliban came into power in August 2021, the US and its allies froze the country's foreign reserves and cut off international funding. The move crippled an economy already heavily dependent on aid. As result, millions of Afghans are out of work including my sister and her husband. And the price of food has soared. So many families including my sister’s family are experiencing acute hunger. The winter which is very harsh weather in Afghanistan adds up to all hardships which they go through. Prior to Taliban regime, this family had a decent life. She was working in a U.S based nonprofit organization as Administrative Assistant. After having 2 kids working full time become difficult for her and thus she decided to stay home and provide private tutoring at home to primary school students (3 days per week). This is how she was earning some money as well as looking after her children. But she was hoping to have a formal job when the children start going to school. Her husband had business of suppling mineral water. However, when Taliban came into power all international organizations left the country and many businesses closed. As result the business lost all its contracts. They had to close the business as there was no profit. My sister also lost all her students as those people who could afford private tutoring left the country or they had been evacuated in 2021.

At the moment this family is very desperate and I’m fundraising for this family especially for these two children who are facing food insecurity. The money you donate will be spent on food, clothing, health and other essentials for upcoming 12 months for this family. Every penny will be a huge support.
