My name is Ally, and We are reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help to save my mam’s home — the house she worked her whole life to buy, now at risk of being taken from her through a Derelict site notice from Waterford Co.Co.
My mam is a pensioner in her 70's who spent decades working hard to provide for her family. Through determination and sacrifice, she bought her home — a place that holds generations of memories, love, and loss. Unfortunately, due to years of hardship and personal tragedy, the house has fallen into disrepair. Now, the government is threatening to seize it under the Derelict Sites Act.
This isn’t just a building — it’s her home, her anchor, her safe space. And if we lose it, we fear what little stability she has left will vanish with it.
Mam is battling ill health, and in recent years, our family has faced unbearable pain, including the heartbreaking loss of a loved one to suicide — whom was her beloved granddaughter. These tragedies have taken a deep toll on her emotional and financial well-being.
Because the house is currently unlivable, Mam has been forced into private rental accommodation she simply cannot afford on her small pension. Every day is a struggle — and the threat of losing her home completely is devastating.
We are doing everything we can to raise the funds needed to restore her house and meet the requirements to stop the government from taking it. We’ve explored every option — but we can’t do this alone.
We are asking for your support — any donation, big or small, will go directly toward essential repairs to make the house safe and livable again.
If you’re not in a position to donate, but you’re a tradesperson — a builder, plumber, electrician, roofer, or anyone with relevant skills — we would be deeply grateful for any time or work you could volunteer to help bring this home back to life. Your time could make all the difference.
If you can’t donate or volunteer, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every bit of help, in any form, means the world to us right now.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping give my mam the chance to stay in the home she deserves.
Without help could face homelessness with compromising health issues
