Help! Need a Lawyer!

Hi! My name is Melissa. I am a single mom from Omaha, Nebraska and need help raising funds so I can obtain a lawyer. Please bear with me this a long story and a shocking story. People may not believe it but I have plenty of proof to back up what I’m about to put out there. I hate asking for help but at this point I’m desperate and have no other option.

In September, the father of my youngest two children was “allegedly” diagnosed with throat cancer. This will be important to know later.

In November, my eight year old daughter was sick almost the entire month. Her dad and I had one week on and one week off for custody. When she came home from his house during this time, she complained of a bad migraine for one whole week and severe body cramps. So, I took her to the doctor mid November. Tests were ran and we couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I chalked it up to growing pains at that time.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving she came home from dad’s and immediately started throwing up and was lethargic all day. She seemed to have flu like symptoms. (I later learned this was not from the flu). That same night my 11 year old son was complaining of a stomach ache and wasn’t feeling well either. I let them stay home the next day. This was becoming so frustrating for me.

The next day I had a casual conversation with both my children regarding their dad’s cancer diagnosis. In this conversation my children very innocently told me that their dad had started drinking something called MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution) and was putting it in their drinks too. As well as their other siblings with his ex-wife and his baby with another mother. I also learned they were told not to tell myself and his ex-wife about this. I immediately googled MMS and learned that it is 28% sodium chlorite and the main ingredient is Chlorine Dioxide. This solution is BLEACH. Also, All the side effects were related to my daughter’s symptoms that entire month. The side effects are nausea , vomiting, diarrhea and severe dehydration.

I called my doctors office immediately and told the nurse what I learned. She had never heard of MMS so said she would have to talk to my doctor and see what his plan of action would be. She said they would let me know the next morning. That evening I did more research on MMS and learned more disturbing things regarding MMS. MMS is literally poison.

I went to the school the next day and they instructed me to call CPS. CPS did an investigation that day and the following day decided to remove all kids from his home. Also, that morning my doctors office called and said per poison control they wanted to do a blood test, urine test, and Liver and Kidney scan on my daughter and I was to bring her in immediately. Poison control had never heard of MMS and had to research it themselves. They later told us it has a black box warning by the FDA and that it is illegal to purchase and sell in the United States and several other countries. After the test results came back the following day, my doctor wanted my daughter to get tested for a second time at Children’s hospital. This is the first time the doctors, poison control, and children’s hospital in our area have heard of MMS. They don’t know how long it stays in your system, the half life, the long term effects. They know nothing. What we do know is it attacks the liver and kidneys. My daughter’s alkaline phosphate level was at a 212 and the normal range is 38-146 (or somewhere in that range). So my doctor was concerned.

The next day I took my two children that were 8 and 10 at the time, and the ex-wife took two of her children who were 10 and 14 at the time to Children’s and had the kids tested. While we were at the hospital and upon hearing the children speak about MMS, CPS also instructed us to file Police reports and a protection order. The test results, showed their levels that are kidney and liver related were affected.

We filed what was called an Ex-Parte (meaning one side) and it was granted immediately. Then we had to go to court to prove why we needed the protection order. I represented both myself and his ex-wife throughout the case as we could not afford a lawyer. The first court hearing was at the beginning of January. The kids dad turned this into a custody hearing and the judge was upset so he continued our case. The second court hearing was mid January. Their dad fired his first lawyer the night before our court hearing and hired a new lawyer and during the two weeks in between hearings he decided to take off to Arizona to get “Holistic treatment” for his cancer. He was not present in court the second time. The case was continued once again but the judge stated that their dad better be present for the next hearing and that he would only hear testimony from their dad and no one else. He told his lawyer that this was not a custody hearing, this case was about MMS.

The next hearing was in February. Their dad’s lawyer started off questioning and then we were able to cross examine. During his questioning, he had stated that myself and his ex-wife are liars, manipulators and we like to stir the pot, he also stated our 11 year old son is a liar and manipulator. He stated that his 14 yr old daughter didn’t know the difference between make believe and real. This is just to give you some context of who he is as a person, and a father. After his testimony, The judge needed a week to go over all the evidence and testimonies before making his decision. The following week he granted our protection order. He wrote a 10 page protection order. He did his own research on MMS and used actual court cases in other states to come up with his decision, as well as other reasons.

Also, I want to note that the police really weren’t helpful as well. The police that took my initial report were awesome. They listened to all my information, then verified it, interviewed both my children and told me a detective would be assigned to the case. That detective really didn’t do much. They were supposed to have the children’s victims unit interview my children. That never happened. The only thing they did was do a phone interview with the kids dad and recorded it. I have the supplemental report on that. Since there is little knowledge regarding MMS, they really did nothing. They kept saying there is no proof. You have children who were 8, 10, 10, & 14 at that time, from two different households stating the same thing happened. They are not babies. They are old enough to know what is happening to them and smart enough to speak on it. There are also test results but again they know nothing about MMS. It blows my mind what a parent can get away with as far as abuse in our city. I learned so much about our system throughout this process and let me tell you it is not ok. He should be in jail. Their dad has used this “alleged” cancer as a sympathy card throughout this process. He has yet to provide actual proof that he has cancer and is dying from it and he has stated several times that he only has a few months to live since September. He is alive and well! I have text messages where he tells me he hasn’t been back to the doctor since first diagnosis, but the cancer is spreading and he is deteriorating quickly. (Self diagnosis) I heard he told mutual friends it was stage 1 and curable and he told his family it is Stage 4 and he only has a few months to live. We have no idea what is true. He stated MMS was being used to cure his cancer. What he decides to do with his body is his choice, Why give it to the kids?

This solution was created by a church leader named Jim Humble years ago. Jim stated it would cure cancer, HIV and the common cold. Once he was indicted and was released from jail, he released a statement stating this product was fake and no one should be drinking it. Poison Control and the FDA also say no human should be ingesting this product.

When initially questioned, their dad, stated he only pretended to put this solution in their drinks. That the kids seen him drink it and then wanted to try it. According to my children, that is not true and he forced the kids to drink it.

Also, I want it noted that I did take my daughter back to get tested for a third time 3 weeks after the initial testing. Her levels that are kidney and liver related were all going back to normal. My daughter also suffered from a dry cough for several months after drinking MMS and I do believe it was related.

The next step is to get our custody modified. We filed our complaint for custody modification on May 9, 2024 and he was served this paperwork on May 20, 2024. He had 30 days to file an answer to our complaint but did not meet that deadline. He has since been arrested for violation of the protection order and has fired another lawyer and is on his third one. They are requesting for more time now to file an answer.

This man has bounced back and forth from Nebraska, Arizona, and Mexico in the last 8 months. Regardless of the protection order, he has not provided ANY financial support for 6 of his children. What is the most concerning is we are worried if he obtains custody that he will take our children across state lines to Arizona, or worse, to Mexico and we will never see them again. Or it will be extremely difficult to get them back. My children are terrified of having to go back to him. After what he did, they want no part of him in their lives. I have been praying to GOD everyday to please guide us through this!

The ex-wife and I have explored every avenue for help. This is our last resort. We need help to protect our children. We were trying to do this on our own, up until this point we were fine. We do feel it would be extremely beneficial for us to have a lawyer for the custody modification. We need help!
