Help journalRage, LGBT publication in Liberia

My name is Patrick Waechter. I am creating this fundraiser for my new friend, Gboko Stewart, a human rights journalist and the founder of journalRage in Liberia. All funds will go to getting Gboko's operation going again. Please, let's help him out. They're doing really great work.

"I am Gboko Stewart, a human rights journalist.

In 2019, I founded journalRage - a news platform dedicated to the exclusive coverage of Liberia's underground LGBT community.

Over the years, the media have played a tacit road in the spread of violent homophobia in the country. This has led to violent reprisals against the LGBT community.

Until journalRage arrived on the scene by stamping its presence in giving the LGBT community a platform to amplify their voices and blaring their cries, they were virtually silent.

Without journalRage, the world wouldn't have known that an ex-soldier had allegedly brutalized over 27 men suspected of being gay and linked to the disappearance of two others. Without journalRage, a kid wouldn't have been able to raise money to complete high school when his mother threw him out for being gay.

Our work at the moment is being hamstrung due to a lack of computer critically needed. For the last three years journalRage has survived on an old and used laptop bought in 2019 for US$120. Three years of several crashes and maintenance later, it has given up the ghost, stopping our work in its tracks.

With your donation, we need to purchase these items ASAP so we can take off from where we stopped.
