Hello!! I am Emily Novak, a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh. I am studying neuroscience on the pre-medical track. This year I got involved with a club on campus called "Global Medical Brigades". The mission of Pitt Medical Brigades is to educate students about the disparities in healthcare in communities worldwide and the role of individuals to the world they inhabit. I got selected for an incredible opportunity to serve in a medical brigade in Honduras. From May 5-May 12, several Global Medical Brigade members and I will be in Honduras, helping with clinics, building an eco stove for the community, and helping out underprivileged families and children in rural communities. We will be preparing and cleaning off medical supplies, helping doctors there with certain procedures, holding a local research and health fair, working with a construction team to complete a public health project, and meeting with health care workers to provide a sustainable model for their healthcare system. Help me fund my trip to the brigade to Honduras!
