Together We Eat is a community-led initiative in partnership with Local Matters, created to support Columbus families facing food insecurity during this difficult time.

As of November 1, SNAP benefits were delayed nationwide despite court orders requiring the use of contingency funds. This disruption has already left millions of families without the support they depend on to buy groceries. Federal leaders continue to navigate how and when those funds will reach families, leaving millions uncertain about when they’ll be able to buy groceries again. In Ohio, food banks were already facing a $7.5 million state budget cut this year — about 23 percent less funding than before — putting even more strain on the resources families depend on.

Food insecurity is a growing crisis in our own community:

Meanwhile, inflation has pushed grocery prices to record highs, and local food pantries are running short on supplies. We believe no family should ever face an empty table — not for a week, not for a day.
