HELP MY FAMILY ESCAPE GAZA ❤️

Donation protected
Hi - my name is Suzanne. I am first gen Palestinian/Irish, living in London and I need your help!

I am fundraising on behalf of my family in Gaza. My aunt Sereen (61), her husband (65), my three cousins, and their seven children - all under five years of age - are in dire need of your help.

They have made the heart-wrenching decision to leave the only home they have ever known as the preservation of life has become impossible. They have been displaced three times since the war started and now have the addition of a newborn baby Malek to live for and protect.

Now, with the ground invasion of Rafah - the last area of designated safety in the strip - they are once again being forced to flee.

My aunt Sereen is the matriarch of the family and embodies the enduring strength of Gazan women — powerful, unwavering, and the cornerstone upon which the family stands. She has done everything in her power to keep her children and grandchildren alive during the onslaught where women and children are the prevailing victims. This fundraiser is a call to all who believe in the power of unity, the strength of family, and the indomitable spirit of a woman who has given her all to keep her family together.

TIMELINE
Before October 7th, my family was residing in al-Nuseirat camp. Life wasn’t simple, but it was relatively peaceful.

  • October: A bomb hits the back garden of the family home in Nuseirat, blowing out the windows.
  • November: 52 people seek shelter in the family home in Nuseirat.
  • December: The family splits up to relocate as the conditions become too cold to live in the Nuseirat home with no windows. My aunt Sereen, her husband, and their daughter Noor relocate to a great aunt’s in Rafah, while my male cousins find shelter in the temporary encampments set up in Rafah.
  • March: The family relocates to Al-Maghazi Camp where they take refuge, and continue to wait for the offensive to subside in Rafah - which presents the only way out.

For now, my family remains in Al-Maghazi camp in the centre of Gaza. They visit their destroyed home in Nuseirat when possible to try and recover what they can from the rubble.

It is becoming increasingly challenging and expensive to get food to sustain the children and newborn Malek. Most of Gaza’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, and the threat of disease and illness is becoming unavoidable.

Currently, they are struggling to get the proper medical attention and nutrition for my postnatal cousin Asmaa and the seven children.

**Funds will go towards**:
- $45,000 - Exit fee x $5,000 per adult
- $20,000 - Exit fee x $2,500 per child
- $1,000 - Transportation to Cairo
- $5,000 - Food and shelter
- $2,000 - Fees (GoFundMe and transfer fees)

Once they have made it to safety across the Egyptian border we will be progressing to get them refugee status here in the UK with my family.

Contingency
These may look like high charges to you. That's because they are. The options for safe passage from Palestine are extremely limited and exit is monopolised by one organisation that, while able to provide a viable route out, is also taking advantage of the situation by charging extortionate fees. But we have no other choice.

The plan is to reach milestones where one adult can leave with two children. So we need to hit £15k at a time.

Amidst the deepening shadows of a media blackout and the relentless surge of violence in the south, it feels like their luck up until this point is running out — time is a luxury we no longer possess.

Anything you can give will go a long way, and if you are not in a position to donate right now, please share as widely as possible.

With love, gratitude, hope and solidarity ❤️
