In the heart of Gaza, where devastation has touched every street and home, Gaza Roots of Resilience seeks to plant hope and rebuild the community. Developed by Entity Collective, an art and social science lab based in Brussels, together with a network of Gazan artists, freelancers, and agricultural experts, the project transforms a ravaged piece of land into an eco-cultural farm—a space where life, creativity, and care can flourish...
What is Entity Collective?
Entity Collective is a Brussels-based arts and social science laboratory that brings together curious minds from across disciplines. Here, artists, scientists, economists, and programmers meet to exchange ideas, experiment, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in the arts, sciences, and humanities. Our projects are rooted in collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking—exploring new ways to connect knowledge and practice.
Our Journey Since We Launched
In May 2024, Entity Collective was launched in Brussels, when scenes of ethnic cleansing were intensifying in the Gaza Strip. This stark contrast between our inception and the devastation we were witnessing compelled us to focus our efforts on this urgent issue.
From this commitment, the project Palestine Beyond Reel was born: a platform dedicated to uncovering perspectives often overlooked by mainstream international media. Through film screenings and panel discussions, the project amplifies Palestinian voices from the occupied territories, as well as from exile and the diaspora, ensuring their narratives resonate and contribute meaningfully to cultural and artistic discourse.
Through the voluntary efforts of the Entity Collective team, alongside support from a number of Belgian and European cultural and educational institutions, Palestine Beyond Reel presented screenings in Italy, Belgium, Cyprus, and Turkey, across film festivals, cultural venues, and higher education institutions. While partnerships with these institutions enabled access to scholarship opportunities for Gazan students, all event ticket proceeds were fully reinvested in supporting Gaza-based artists and freelancers who contributed to the project’s success.
The 2026 Edition
In the aftermath of the most recent so-called ceasefire, the full scale of Gaza’s devastation has gradually come into view. Beyond the widespread physical destruction lies a deeper rupture: the erosion of livelihoods, community spaces, and the everyday structures that once sustained dignity, hope, and social cohesion.
Gaza Roots of Resilience emerges as a locally grounded, forward-looking response to this rupture. Centered on dignity, self-sufficiency, and long-term resilience, the project seeks to rebuild not only land and infrastructure, but also collective agency and social bonds.
How the Gaza Roots of Resilience Will Operate?
- First, the project will support a local farmer in restoring the land and establishing sustainable food production practices.
- Second, a portion of the harvest will be dedicated to strengthening community solidarity by supporting vulnerable social groups, such as orphaned children and elderly people.
- Third, part of the farm will be developed into a shared workspace with reliable access to electricity and internet, enabling artists, freelancers, and cultural workers to collaborate, create, and generate income.
- Fourth, beyond its practical functions, the farm will serve as a research and learning space—exploring innovative, interdisciplinary practices through educational programs, and cultural activities, that contribute to collective healing and long-term resilience.
This project is developed through collaboration between several international experts from Entity Collective communities, along with their partners and the operating team in Gaza, who will actively guide its preparation, promotion, and implementation.

Project budget:
The campaign aims to raise €10,000 to cover the costs of the first round of seasonal crops, a solar energy system, and internet access. A portion of the funds will also financially support the Palestinian team implementing the campaign in Gaza whilst contributing to the first exhibition for the project.
As the project progresses, revenue generated from the farm’s produce, exhibition sales, and other potential income will help to establish a sustainable funding model which support the next seasonal crops and ensures the ongoing operation of the project.
