We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Gary has left this realm and has continued his immense journey onwards to be with the spirits and ancestors.

We are finding comfort and peace in his music, the clouds, bursts of sunshine, and animal visitors such as seals, a variety of birds, and others.

For those who knew and will continue to know him, we lost a truly magical person, musician, cultural worker, friend, teacher, jokester, jazz historian, husband, and father.

His main passion was to keep the music alive and to share with such generosity and humility the gifts he received through his work and connections with people and the earth.

He passed away unexpectedly the morning of Saturday October 12th. He had Multiple System Atrophy, a rare neurological disease. He was surrounded by loving family and many dear friends in spirit.

We will plan a celebration of life when we have more capacity, but for now we are focusing on grieving.

There are many outstanding and upcoming costs we would love the community’s support in covering. Any contribution will help ease financial burdens and allow us to honor Gary with the respect he deserves. We also look forward to receiving your contributions of photos, memories, stories, and more to help us stay connected to him and continue to know him.

What a bright, loving, one of a kind, deep soul.
