Gambian Minnesotans seek a Community Center

Did you know there are over 2000 Gambians living in Minnesota - many of whom are US citizens including first and second-generation Gambians, permanent residents, and students? Their welfare is served by a registered nonprofit (501c3) - called The Gambian Association in Minnesota (GAM-MN).

Kindly join us in making a difference. We raising money to establish a Multi-purpose Community Center in Minnesota with the following objectives below. Sahan Journal was out to amplify our voices and raise awareness about our dire needs as a productive immigrant community in MN. Read their story also republished by StarTribune

1. Promoting cross-cultural education, diversity, and togetherness
2. Mentoring youth to focus on their education and stay out of trouble
3. Supporting families to find resources for becoming homeowners
4. Assisting uninsured members of our community to access decent healthcare
5. Establishing bilateral partnerships and friendships between Minnesota and Gambian organizations (e.g., Banjul-Brookly Park Sister City Cooperation )

Established in 1987, GAM-MN supports the community's priority focus on youth mentoring, social cohesion, child support, healthcare, education, cultural awareness, immigration, homeownership, business development, women empowerment, and partnership with organizations in Minnesota and The Gambia to promote shared prosperity.
