Galway Rowing Club was founded in 1910 on the banks of the River Corrib in Woodquay, Galway.
For more than a century the Club has welcomed rowers of all ages and abilities—our junior athletes bursting with enthusiasm and our masters crews bringing experience, dedication and leadership. Together we share the water, our passion for rowing and a deeply-rooted community spirit.
With active junior boys and girls and masters programmes, we offer pathways for both emerging talent and seasoned rowers.
We’re especially proud that one of our own started her rowing journey here: world-champion rower Fiona Murtagh began rowing at Galway Rowing Club.
Our club is powered by coaches who volunteer their time and expertise—helping our members train, compete and grow.
We believe in building community: connecting members, families and supporters across Galway and beyond.
Safe, inclusive access to rowing: regardless of experience, ability or background.
Why We Need Your Support
We are planning a weeklong training camp to Seville for our junior boys and girls in February 2026. This will give them the opportunity to train in more favourable weather conditions giving them a chance to level the playing field relative to their competition around the country who don’t have to contend with the raging river corrib.
The cost of travel, accommodation, food, ferry for the boats and logistics means we need to raise as much as we can and are hoping to achieve some of this through the Go Fund me page. Your support will help cover:
Flights, transport and accommodation for the whole squad
Venue hire and water-time in Seville’s ideal rowing conditions
Every donation, no matter the size makes a genuine difference to our club. Whether you’re able to give €5, €20 or €500, your support brings us one step closer to our goal of €5,000 for the training camp in Seville. Your donation helps our junior and masters rowers experience world-class training, master new skills and draw inspiration from the sport. We truly appreciate any amount you choose to contribute — your kindness is a vote of confidence in our community, our volunteer coaches, and our long history. Thank you for being part of our journey.
