Gallagher Family: A Call for Support

Donation protected
My name is John Gallagher and this is my family! We took all these kids in from my sister-n-law because first and foremost they are family and they had no one or anywhere else to go to. Secondly, we didn't want them to be separated and grow up not knowing one another. Did we think of the consequences for our little family? Honestly? No. We were doing well and had a little money set aside even. At that time GOD touched our hearts and so we took Richard, Aly, and Isabel in. Jr followed just about 6-7 months later and our family went from 3 to 7 in less than a year. Costs started spiraling but we knew it was the right thing so we dove in head first. Getting them clothes and everything in between since they basically had nothing when they came. Fast forward about 2 1/2 years later and their mom gave birth to Sophia who was 3 months premature and only 2 lbs at birth. She spent her first 2 months of life in the nicu where we met her for the first time when we picked her up to take her home. She is my angel! The state of Georgia made all kinds of promises to help. To help with costs and adoption as well as permanent guardianship of the rest of the kids. However, the minute we crossed state lines and they knew they were safe they cut ties. We had a Family Law lawyer who specialized in adoption law and took our case pro-bono but he couldn't get either Georgia or Indiana to assist us. At this point we were barely keeping our heads above water and living on credit. Both of us have decent jobs but it is just too much financially let alone the physical and emotional strain. We don't qualify for state assistance because they didn't place them with us and we make "too much money". One 401K loan later and we had some breathing room for a few months anyway. Then we get the call, she's just had another baby and would we be willing to take it. Sophia is now 16 months old and most of her baby stuff is long gone as we simply don't have the room to store anything with so many people living in our little house. We have been asked to take this child as well but they can't tell us when so we can plan ahead but will likely call us the day of like last time and we will have to drop everything and rush down to Georgia to get her. There are many complicated issues with the mom and I don't feel right airing them all but suffice it to say she is not in a position to care for anyone right now and neither is the father. Baby Katia will soon be number 9 in our family and we are so not prepared. Lol. At this point, I can only laugh it's the only thing that helps. If you feel it in your heart and can afford to do so I would be forever grateful for any and all help that you could possibly give. If you have resources, please message me them. If you have items for the baby, I'll try to figure out a way to come get them. If you have a little extra cash laying around that would also be super helpful. I will try to update you all on the status of the baby as we find out more on our end. Please donate if you can and share either way... Thank you all if you made it through this.
