Gabriela Jaxon for unpaid mural art at Miami gym
Donation protected
Calling for community support to help Peruvian artist Gabriela Jaxon receive compensation for $24k worth of unpaid mural art and materials at No Limit, Miami gym. She is an independent artist who relies on getting paid for her work to survive, and her main instagram has also been taken down by the perpetrator, which is her main source of networking for income. She would never ask for help, but it is our responsibility to show up for community when they're down; especially for Gabriela as a hispanic woman creative who faces a disproportionate amount of discrimination.
Gabriela (b. 1994, Lima, Peru) is an indigenous Peruvian multidisciplinary artist. Growing up attending art schools in Peru and America, she not only discovered her interest in creating but also used painting as a form of survival to transport herself and the viewer to colorful imaginary spaces. Gabriela received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology with a focus on art therapy from Florida Southern College in the Fall of 2015. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, she moved to NYC, where she honed her skills as a muralist, gained firsthand experience in the field, and started working independently as a full-time mural artist. Gabriela has since been commissioned, collaborated, &/or exhibited her works (mural & canvas) in galleries, private settings, & public spaces nationwide.
