Help keep our family housed

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sherrie Morris, and I’m a mom doing everything I can—alongside my 3 children’s father, Ryan—to keep our family safe and stable. Right now, we’re facing a serious financial crisis. Most importantly, we’re behind on rent and at risk of eviction. We’re asking for help to raise $4,500 so we can stay in our home and avoid yet another move.

Since we had our daughter in 2016, our family has had to move 12 times. Each move has been disruptive and heartbreaking, especially for the kids. We’ve lived in short-term rentals, with family, motels, and in places that never felt like home. One of these "homes" was in our friends trailer moving around campsites from Lodi, Lake of the Springs and Minden, commuting to work everyday. I want my family to feel safe and this current home is the first time in a long time we’ve had a real shot at stability—but now, we’re on the edge of losing it.

Ryan has been the full-time caregiver for our sweet and funny 6-year-old son, Barin, who has autism and needs extra support at home. Recently, things became even more difficult when Ryan lost the use of his arm due to a dislocated shoulder. He’s now preparing for surgery, and in the meantime, he’s unable to work or lift, which has made daily life and caregiving incredibly challenging.

I work over 40 hours a week at a preschool and pick up babysitting jobs when I can, but I also have my own physical limitations due to chronic back issues. I’m doing everything I can to hold things together, but we’re stretched past our limits right now.

We had planned to sell our motorcycle to help with finances, but in November 2024, a “friend” and mechanic who was supposed to be fixing it up took it out without permission and got into an accident. He was seriously injured, and between the lack of clear communication from the lender and being dismissed by the other driver’s insurance, the bike was ultimately sold without our knowledge. We had purchased it new in 2021 and only had about $1,400 left to pay and we would have been able to sell the bike for quite a bit because it had extremely low miles.

On top of that, my car has had ongoing mechanical issues, leading to unexpected costs for repairs and rentals. It’s just been one thing after another—and now we’re completely stretched too thin.

We’ve been doing everything we can to catch up, but we’re falling behind fast, and we need help.

Every dollar donated will go directly toward paying our rent to avoid eviction and keep our kids in a safe, consistent home. Any amount you are able to give will be greatly appreciated.

If you’ve ever faced hard times, or if you believe every child deserves a stable home, please consider donating or sharing our story. Your kindness means more than we can express—and it could be the reason our kids don’t have to pack up and start over again.

With love and deep gratitude,
Sherrie & Ryan

p.s. please know that neither one of us likes asking for help. We are more of the work for it or work it off types so this was extremely hard to post. So please let us know if we can return your kindness in any way. There is so much more that we have been through but I don't want to take up more of your time. Thank you for reading.
