A Clean Cup of Rain for Tanzania

Donation protected
I am an elementary school teacher who has the opportunity to travel to Tanzania to make a difference in the world.  My third grade teaching partner and I are embarking on a service trip to help families in Tanzania learn to harvest rain water through roof water collection and passive irrigation.  This process will turn rain into safe drinking water.  We will be working alongside families to build rain catchment systems that will provide clean water for drinking, sanitation, and agriculture.

In addition to the obvious humanitarian effort, I will be able to build a connection with my third grade students and those in need.  Through this experience I will make connections with the locals and Save the Rain in an effort to teach my students how we can become global citizens.  Students will be participating in a global service project where they will collect water bottles, recycle, and use the funds to help aid Save the Rain and the people of Tanzania.

My mission as a teacher is to help my students understand the importance of thinking not only locally but globally.  Through my students educational journey they will learn to become global thinkers, learners, and doers.
