Our Lakewood Village "Asset" is "Jerry". Many have seen Jerry on his daily trek up and down Carson Street. Jerry has a wagon with a neat collection of containers, and he pulls weeds out of the cracks in the sidewalk and likes to "keep it clean".
Jerry is not a substance abuser, mentally ill or a criminal, ..... he is just Homeless. Jerry is our 73 year old Homeless Man that helps keep our Lakewood Village, Lakewood, and Long Beach area clean by sweeping the sidewalk, trimming bushes and trees and removing weeds along the sidewalk.
He can most often be seen pulling his "cart" along Carson Street. Jerry never asks for money, but has been known to accept a "helping hand" from kind neighbors. Jerry needs a little bit for food and his personal needs. Jerry is easy to talk to, very humble and considers himself a "productive member of society." Jerry just turned 73 on Ground Hog Day and seems to be doing pretty good, is very humble and very appreciative of all his "Friends of Jerry". We have small e-mail group called "Friends of Jerry".
