Help us help our friends!

Our friend Amber and her husband Kenny have just welcomed their second child - Cora’s baby brother - Robert, into the world! This is cause for us all to celebrate, but it also comes with a financial hardship for their family. Due to ongoing health issues, Amber has been out of work for over a year and has not been able to work as an operating engineer (her main profession) for nearly 4 years. During this time, our friend has been battling ongoing issues with her immune system. Her body's ability to fight off infection has, on multiple occasions, threatened the loss of both of her hands. The multitude of hospital stays, including a trip to the Mayo Clinic, have been an incredibly large financial burden on Amber and Kenny over the years. Their beautiful, growing family could use our help now more than ever.

On November 14th, their son, Robbie, was born almost 2 months early and he is expected to stay in the Rush Hospital NICU until his original due date in January. Because of the unforeseen circumstances of needing an emergency c-section, having a preemie in the NICU, taking time off of work, and living on one income, money has been extremely tight. While the medical bills add up, the regular bills keep coming, and they are beginning to fall behind.

As many of us know, hard times never come at a convenient time! We now find our friends in a time of need. Whether they are there with a kind word, helping to move, helping find someone a job, or volunteering time just to be of service to others, they are always there with a helping hand!
