On June 5, 2025, 24 year old Rayon went to the hospital in South Carolina.

Rayon, like his father Bobby, left Jamaica to work. At the hospital they diagnosed him with a dental infection and a rare & aggressive form of Leukaemia . He flew home to Jamaica, ending up in the Mandeville Hospital.

On July 10th Josh and I got a message from his sister asking to help spread the word that they needed blood donated. There was not enough blood and in order to get the blood you need people to donate it to you in your name. Upon receipt of a blood donation in his name, he would get blood. His sister was also asking for help with paying for the chemotherapy drugs that needed to be ordered from the USA because they were not available.

On Sunday July 13th in the evening Bobby and I talked. He was not aware of the seriousness of AML . We discussed that maybe he'd like to go home immediately. Tuesday July 15th we made a video asking for blood donations in Rayon's name. Thursday morning July 17th he died. Rayon was to turn 25 on July 25th.

Bobby is the sole income source for his family. He supports his wife Vivian, daughters, grandson, and others. There is no bereavement support.

We were able to get a flight for Bobby, he left Saturday July 19th in the morning for home. He will not have work for a few weeks while he is home grieving with his family.

We can not ease their suffering but we can ease the stress of financial pressures at this time. $10,000 will support some of the costs of the funeral and provide Bobby with equivalent income that would otherwise be lost while he is home.

We feel deep respect and gratitude for the community that surrounds the TapRoot team. Blessings and thank you for being there for us all. This time it is Bobby and is family who need us to rally for them.
