My name is Hassan Al-Satri, and I’m from Gaza. I never thought I’d be writing these words—not in this way, not begging the world to see us, to save us. But here I am, because our lives depend on it.
Before the war shattered everything, my family was just like yours. We weren’t rich, but we had each other. We had meals together, laughed at small jokes, argued over silly things. My mother’s voice filled the house, my siblings’ footsteps echoed in the hallways. It was a home. It was ours.
But in an instant, everything disappeared.
A missile struck near our house. I still remember the sound—like the sky cracking open. The walls shook, glass shattered, screams pierced the dust-filled air. Our home was bombed. Partially destroyed. And with it, everything safe and familiar vanished.
My little sister, Ghina, was caught in the blast. She’s just a child. She had a future—school, play, dreams. Now she lies injured, her body broken, her pain silent because she’s too tired to cry anymore. She needs urgent medical treatment, but the care she needs is not available in Gaza. We must get her out. But the border is a wall we can’t climb alone.
The cost to evacuate and treat her is overwhelming.
15,000 euros—a number that means little to some, but to us, it’s the price of hope. It’s the price of saving my sister’s life. It’s the price of pulling my family—Ahmed, Bahaa, Hassan, Muhammad, Aboud, Haneen, and Ghina—away from the edge of death.
We are not numbers. We are not headlines.
We are people.
We are a family trying to hold on to each other in a place where every second could be our last.
I’m asking, from one human being to another:
Please help us. Help us evacuate, help us survive. Share this message. Spread our story. If you can donate, no matter how small, know that your help is not just charity—it is a lifeline. It is dignity. It is humanity in its purest form.
I never imagined I’d have to beg the world to care. But I believe in kindness. I believe that even in darkness, people can still be the light.
Help me save my sister. Help me save my family. Help us live.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
Your support means more than I could ever express in words.
