Hi Friends (old and new!) and Family!
This GoFundme is to help financially support us through this adoption process! You may have seen our puzzle piece fundraiser on Facebook, but if you missed it, here's a little recap:
We have a special puzzle being made for us. On the back of each piece we are going to be writing the names for people who helped us bring Baby Smyth #4 home. When the puzzle is completed it will be in a double sided frame displayed in our home and always be a reminder of the love and support that surrounds our family.
We will be using this page to provide updates as we go along. So much is still unknown as this is all new to us, but we will be transparent about everything. As of now, there has been the application fee ($350), the home study ($2,500), the attorney retainers ($3,000), social worker ($2,000), ICPS fee for adopting out of state ($1,200), along with travel and having to stay out where baby is going to be born for 3-4 weeks (best case scenario, could be more!). These are the costs we know about right now, but we are still in the early stages of the process. This goal amount is the average we were told by our case worker but may change depending on what else pops up. It's all adding up fast, and the pandemic forcing Jelissa to be laid off has definitely put a bump in the road financially.
