Fyvie Guide House is a residential facility owned jointly by Guiding Gordon and Girlguiding Banff & Buchan, for use by Guiding, Scouting and other youth organisations. The house is run by a committee of 11 people who are all volunteers who have a real passion in giving children and young people exposure to opportunities that promote well being and resilience. Through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure, Girlguiding empowers young people to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves, to make effective citizens and a positive difference in their community.
Residential trips help with the gaining of independence and friendships. This has shown to build resilience to help children cope when they are faced with adversity and the stresses of everyday life so they can have fun, take new opportunities and experience good mental wellbeing. With confidence and life skills gained, they grow with each trip away, developing into effective citizens in their community.
The Committee have worked hard over the years to maintain and improve the building the latest project is to build an extension to house a new kitchen facility, allowing the dining area to be extended into the original kitchen this will provide more space for users and a modern facility, that is fit for purpose.
Much fundraising has already been done the committee are on the final push to ensure all funds are in place for works to start within the next year.
