This is Tom from Alaska's story…
"My name is Christine, and I’m writing for my parents, Tom and Jane. My dad is a U.S. Navy Veteran, and they have lived in their home in Alaska for over 40 years. It is where they built their life, their memories, and their community.
A few years ago, everything changed. My mom had a serious accident, and my dad stepped away from work to care for her. This led to financial strain that grew over time. Their home was eventually foreclosed on and sold.
Even now, they are still in the home, which feels like a small miracle. For the past 10 months, we have tried everything to fix this. We have worked with lawyers, explored loans, reached out to organizations, and asked for help from leaders. We have run out of options.
The bank has offered a short window to buy the home back, but we have not been able to secure the funds. My dad is about to turn 79 and is still working while looking for more ways to help. My mom, who turns 77 soon, has made an amazing recovery. They are doing all they can, but they need help.
I am sharing this because their home means everything to them. They have always been there for me, and it is hard to watch them face this alone. Any support could help them stay in the place they love and give them peace during this stage of life."
