This is Joseph from New Hampshire’s story…

"Joseph Thomas is a 75 year old Navy Veteran living with Alzheimer’s. Even as he faces his own health challenges, he is caring for his wife, who has just begun cancer treatments, and his son, who has stage 4 kidney disease. He is doing everything he can to hold his family together.

Joseph is the one driving them to appointments each day, keeping up with the house, and making sure they have food. He visits local food banks to provide for his family. At the same time, they are at risk of losing their car, which would make it even harder to get to the care they need.

He is a proud grandfather and great grandfather who has always put others first. Last summer, he rebuilt their back porch with his brother so it would be safe for the kids. In his neighborhood, he has always been known as “Grandpa Joe,” a kind and familiar face who welcomed kids with ice pops after school.

Joseph has a way of making people feel seen and cared for. He shows that even small acts of kindness can mean everything. Despite his diagnosis, he continues to give his time, energy, and love to those around him.

Our family is doing all we can to support him, but it is not enough. I am also caring for two disabled toddlers who love him deeply. We are asking for help so Joseph can continue caring for his family and find some relief during this difficult time."
