This is James from Ohio’s story…

"My dad, James Scherer, is 64 years old and has spent his life building for others. As a carpenter, he worked for decades to provide for our family. He always showed up, no matter the cost, and gave everything he had to the people around him.

He is also a man of deep faith and kindness. He would give his last dollar to help someone in need. He raised our family with love and strength, even while facing personal challenges that few people could see.

At 31, with four young children, he was diagnosed with a serious mental health condition. Recently, that diagnosis was changed to PTSD, and we now believe he may have been on the wrong medication for many years. Today, those medications have taken a toll on his body. He has severe tremors that have made it hard for him to work, drive, and live the way he once did.

Before all of this, he served in the United States Navy. During his service, he met my mom, and their love carried them through years of distance until they could finally build a life together. For over 40 years, they have stood side by side, even as my mom faced cancer multiple times and my dad continued to care for others in his community.

Now, he needs time to rest and heal. After a lifetime of giving, he deserves peace, stability, and time with his family. Any support will help ease the burden and give him the chance to focus on his health and the people he loves."
