This is David from South Carolina’s story…

"Back in 2012, my husband and I bought a home in Pendleton, South Carolina. That is where we met David and his wife Tiffany. They lived just up the street, and over time we became close friends. David brought humor and warmth into every moment, and he was always the kind of person who would help anyone in need.

David has always lived a life of service. He joined the U.S. Army at 17 and spent his 18th birthday in basic training. After September 11, he deployed to Iraq, and he was also stationed in Germany and Kuwait. When people thank him, he simply says, “My pleasure.” As our families grew, our bond grew too, and we became what his oldest son calls “Framily.”

In January, David traveled to Ohio to celebrate his son’s birthday at the Football Hall of Fame. We met up for dinner, and he was his usual self, full of laughter and kindness. Just two weeks later, Tiffany shared that he was having numbness and weakness in his body. After testing, David was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Since then, David has spent more time in the hospital than at home. He missed his youngest child’s first birthday while receiving treatment. He worked hard in therapy and made progress, but then his condition worsened again. After more testing, doctors confirmed he now has CIDP, a condition that will require ongoing treatment and care.

David is now facing a long road ahead and has been unable to return to his work as an engineer. Tiffany has used all her time off to care for him and now must take unpaid days to be by his side. I started this fundraiser to help with medical costs, travel, and daily needs. David has always shown up for others, and now it is our turn to show up for him and his family."
