For those of you who don’t know us, Michael and I began dating in high school and are high school and college sweethearts. We have been together for 11 years and married for 6. After years of failed pregnancies taking a toll on us physically and emotionally, it was determined that we will not be able to conceive and carry on our own. Coming from a family full of adopted individuals, the next choice we made was easy. We have just completed our Home Study and are moving forward with the adoption process! Yay! Only thing is, it is INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE! The following is a breakdown of exactly what this money will be going toward:

-Home Study: $1,500

-Preliminary Application: $1,000

-Adoptive Family Profile Development: $2,000

-Activating Adoptive Family Profile: $4,000

-Family Marketing: $18,000

-American Adoptions Fee (covering attorneys, paperwork, overhead, etc.): $30,000++ depending on the state the adoptive child comes from

-Post Adoption Placement Inspection: $1,500

We have only set a goal of $50,000, even though we are certain our total cost to adopt will be well above that.
