Women at the Well helping refugees
Donation protected
The University of St. Thomas Leadership Management class (MGMT382) is partnering with the non-profit Women at the Well this fall to raise funds to help refugees in Ethiopia. Our mission with Shegitu Kebede, founder of Women at the Well, is to create thriving and self-supporting refugee camps. Teaching refugees to farm, building schools for children and classes for adults to learn a trade.
Shegitu's story is inspiring, once a refugee herself in Ethiopia, she is now a small business owner her in Minnesota. She has dedicated her live to bring awareness to the growing struggles that refugees are facing and help them overcome. The average refugee now spends about 17 years in a refugee camp. This is not sustainable living and is meant to be temporary. Shegitu has partnered with both the International Institutes of MN and Innovative Humanitarian Solutions (IHS) to help the desparity that these camps are facing.
As a class we are trying to raise funds to help Shegitu on her mission and to see the children of these Ethiopian refugee camps live a better life. They need clothing, shelter, beds and schooling. Shegitu has made great progress on her trips to Ethiopia but there is still much work to be done to help a great number of people. Even the smallest donation with help us reach our goal. We greatly appreciate your generosity!! Thank you.
(many young people have fled to the refugee camp without parents/adults.)
