My name is Sherry Munns. I’m asking for just a little bit of help getting my family into a place because our old apartment, Jefferson School Apartments, let us go 4 months with either no hot water or refused to fix the broken water heater. My youngest daughter was only 2 months old, and because they refused to fix it, I was very stressed out and couldn’t produce much milk for her. We barely got help from WIC, and because I was up late boiling hot water for my family to bathe, I was late to work 6 times, only by 30-45 minutes max, and they fired me without any warning.

The apartments told us in October to wait to pay rent and see what the owner said about compensation for going so long without hot water. They said $100 off one time, like that was a joke, when we paid rent on time every month. But they lied to us and evicted us even though they said to wait to pay the rent. On the last day of October, we were only able to get a motel room for a month, and we are struggling every day.

But my husband and I both have jobs starting on the 16th, but we have nothing to pay for our motel room after 2 more nights. If we don’t have a place, we don’t get our girls back, and my family has made it clear that they are going to make it difficult for us to get our kids back because they like to threaten us with that. So, we are begging for a little bit of help so a family who deserves our daughters home can bring them home.
