Hi all,
God has been working in my life a lot this past month and He's worked out the details for me to do some traveling and volunteering this summer. I plan to volunteer at a children's home and school in Kenya for 6.5 weeks this summer. I leave on July 12th! I will be working with Makuyu Education Initiative (MEI), a non-profit that provides underprivileged kids with an education and food to help them break the cycle of poverty. There is also a possibility I will be visiting a few other organizations while I am there including Shade Children Foundation (a children's home). I am very excited and grateful to be flexible enough to leave on such short notice.
If you feel led to support me or this cause, there are a few ways to do that...
- First, I can always use prayers for safety and wisdom on how to be the biggest blessing to these children. As excited as I am, I'm also a little intimidated about doing a solo trip.
- Second, I have been told that material donations are always appreciated by the children. I plan to check a suitcase solely for donations. - Third, if you want to specifically support me, I have set up this GoFundMe to help cover some of my expenses. A breakdown includes: $1850 plane ticket, $55 Kenyan Visa, $100 airport transport, $565 vaccines, $80/month international phone plan, plus other incidentals.
