Help Us Build a Space Where Young People With Sensory Loss Can Connect, Create, and Belong
At Forth Valley Sensory Centre, we see every day how important it is for young people with sight and/or hearing loss to have places where they feel understood and included. Finding those spaces isn’t always easy — loneliness and isolation can affect many of the young people we support.
That’s why our first Dungeons & Dragons session meant so much. What started as a simple games day quickly became something more: a chance for young people to meet others who share similar experiences, try something new, and enjoy a few hours of pure creativity and fun. For several attendees, it was their first time playing — and the excitement, teamwork, and laughter around the table said everything.
D&D has given these young people a way to express themselves, build confidence, and form friendships in a relaxed, welcoming environment. It’s a reminder that connection doesn’t always come from big moments — sometimes it starts with a shared story, a character sheet, and a roll of the dice.
FVSC already supports thousands of people with sensory loss each year through groups like our Lego club, tech classes, support groups and more. Our new D&D sessions are becoming another meaningful way to help young people feel part of a community.
Now, we want to make this a regular, fully accessible group — and we need your support to do it.
Your donation will help us provide:
- Accessible D&D materials (large print, audio, tactile tools)
- Dice, books, character sheets, and miniatures
- Snacks and travel support for those who need it
- A trained Dungeon Master to run ongoing sessions
- A safe, inclusive space where young people can build friendships and confidence
Your support helps create more than just a game night.
It helps create a community.
Thank you for helping us keep the adventure going.
