Future without Mammy

Future without Mammy,
Hi all this is Ruby aged 5 and Alice aged 4,
8 weeks ago, Ruby, Alice and their Mammy Leanne and daddy Jason, were at the happiest times of their lives. Jason and Leanne - finally after many years of hard work and sacrifices - looked forward to a bright future together as a family; things were falling into place finally. Then all of a sudden, their world was turned upside down, Leanne felt unwell and knew something was wrong. She had severe stomach pains and cramps so they went to her local GP, who advised her to go straight to A&E to get tests done. As a precaution, she was kept in overnight with many tests done and given medication to stop the pain, she was released the next day and informed she needed to get some more tests and scans done in the coming weeks. Leanne suffered with these pains for the next 2 weeks until she could take no more. After another few visits to the GP she was given more pain relief but was still experiencing excruciating pain in her stomach, so after a follow up appointment she was pushed forward to have a CT scan done.
My little brother Jason sent me a message to say, “they have found a large mass tumor in Leanne's abdomen close to her liver. I'm scared I don’t know what to do ‘the girls’ how and why what am I going to do?”. So, as families and friends do, we rallied around to support them, hoping and wishing that Leanne could get through this. From that moment Leanne never left the hospital; she was kept in and had test after test done. Another 2 weeks had past and still no answers but a lot of tears and chats about fighting this mysterious illness, whilst trying to be strong for her girls and for Jason, and then finally some positive news. She would be transferred from Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to St Vincent's in Dublin to get a biopsy done. It was told that once they have the results from this, she can finally start treatment for this “mass tumor” after already being in the hospital for 4 weeks.
The results came back from the biopsy a few days later and she was told it was an "aggressive sarcoma" and the large mass tumor was growing at a rapid rate. We all know Cancer is a scary word but we kept positive because that's what Jason and Leanne did, they were being positive and strong - together they will fight this every step of the way. Leanne was transferred back to Drogheda with the hope she will receive treatment there and be closer to her girls Ruby and Alice, and Jason and her fight would begin. Unfortunately, another setback in starting treatment as Lourdes hospital is not able to treat Leanne's condition and this was not made aware to Leanne or Jason. How can this be happening? How can she fight this if she is not given the chance? Leanne was then transferred back to St Vincents in Dublin a week later and they were going to start her treatment. Sadly, Leanne’s treatment came too late as she never left the hospital, she passed away in St Vincents hospital on the 21st of October 2019 with Jason and her loved ones by her side. This all happened so fast and so sudden its heartbreaking, her hospital records showed Leanne had stage 4 Melanoma and she was fighting a losing battle. Until her death Leanne or Jason were never told what it was, she was fighting or how much time they had left with each other.
Leanne was only 29 years of age, her kids are her world being a mother meant everything to her she put so much love and dedication into being the best mammy possible to Alice and Ruby, it breaks our hearts that she is no longer with us. Leanne and Jason were so strong together and he never left her side for one moment through her short battle, he is devastated but knows he has to be strong and do everything in his power to make sure Alice and Ruby will never forget how wonderful their mammy was. I am so proud of my little brother; he is so brave and strong I can't imagine the pain he feels inside but I do know he will do everything he can to provide a great future for his girls.
Life is tough and tests us at times, and sometimes along the way we find the answers through our own struggles, but the best people to help with our struggles and hard times is our families, friends and loved ones. I know the community around our families and friends are the people who can help when we need it most and this is why I have started this GO FUND ME;
My name is James Eastwood, Jason is my brother, Alice and Ruby are my nieces.
Drogheda is where Jason Leanne and the girls call home and it is where they have been so happy as a family. Leanne's wish would be to continue their future in Drogheda together among their friends and school friends and I am sure that's what Jason will try to do; I started this GO FUND ME because I want Jason and the girls to stay at home and to get through this very tough period of their life, and give him the best chance to provide that future for Ruby and Alice. He knows that's what their mammy would have wanted. I know the next struggle will be financial to keep their home so I am reaching out to everyone and anyone who can donate whatever they can to give Jason and the girls that time to heal and adjust to life without mammy and grieve without any financial burden, whilst giving them time to have a future together without mammy.
We will say our final farewell to Leanne today 25th Oct 2019 exactly 6 weeks from the time we all got the devastating news of her tumor.
Her spirit will live long in her children Ruby and Alice and her strength will long live in the memory of Jason who will carry that strength with him forever.
I would like to thank you all in advance for any donations made.
