A new community fire station is being built in the Shady Hill area to fill an important coverage gap for local residents and property owners.
Right now, homes, barns, outbuildings, equipment, and other property in this area fall outside the 5-mile requirement for an ISO Class 5 rating. Because of that, insurance rates are based on a Class 10 rating. A new satellite station would help close that gap and could reduce fire insurance rates in the area by approximately 35%. At the same time, fire equipment currently has to travel farther from existing area stations to respond.
Funds raised will go toward construction of the new satellite station, which will become part of the Henderson County Fire Department. Henderson County Fire Department would assume operation and upkeep of the station after completion. Construction has already started at the intersection of Youngerman and Shady Hill roads, with hopes of completing the station before the end of fall.
Any donation will help move this project forward and support a safer, better-served Shady Hill area. If you are able, please give or share this fundraiser to help bring this new station to completion.
