Hi Friends!

 

We are Maureen & Matt and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to help Afghan families resettle here in the DMV. They have already arrived and are in transitional housing. Thanks to Lutheran Social Services, we have been assigned two families. We have already completed the apartment for a family of 5: Two parents and three little girls ages 4, 2 and 1 month old. We are now working on an apartment for a mother-son duo. We spent $5,000 on the apartment for the family of five and estimate that we will spend roughly $4,000 for the apartment for the mother-son duo.  If you apply the surplus from our fundraising drive (around 1800), we need around 2200 to complete the apartment for our second family. 

Matt & I are real estate professionals and regularly set up apartments for sale so this is familiar territory for us. We are buying new furniture, housewares, toiletries, linens, & electronics, and more. 

 

Please help us set up a warm and welcoming home for these courageous families as they begin their journey as the DMV's newest residents! The mother-son duo will be moving into their new apartment by the end of the month.
