The Long Lake Provincial Park Association (LLPPA) is a dedicated group of volunteers who make sure the Lakeview and Waterfront Trails at Long Lake Park are in tip-top shape for all walkers, runners, strollers, bikers and four-legged friends.
Why the LLPPA needs your support: this small yet mighty group relies SOLELY on donations and grants to fund operations, maintenance, and any possible future expansion of existing facilities.
Enter the Fun-DUCT-Raiser! Participants enter as individuals or teams and create a boat that is constructed with only TWO items: duct tape and carboard. And then they race the boats!
Some details: whether you're participating or you're supporting a participant or team, please enter the name of the boat or team in the comments section. And each dollar raised can likely be matched with between $2 and $4 of funding from different government and institutional community grant programs...so every dollar makes a difference!
A bit of history: Long Lake Provincial Park was created in 1988 and laid largely dormant for almost 30 years. The grand opening of the Lakeview Trail on Earth Day 2016 changed all that, making the park accessible for all to enjoy some nature in the city. The Waterfront Trail followed in the spring of 2017, linking the upper parking lot to the new boat launch area on the Old Pumphouse site.
Today, with almost 6 km of easy walking trails and easy access to the park's pristine lake, this area has become a popular destination for local residents and visitors alike.
