My Cup Runneth Over needs your donations to buy 15 Parker Lane (Power Sports Building in Perry, NY. Well, I did it. I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow-up. And that’s someone that makes the world a better place! Not better by 1 simple act, better every single day by the impact I have on the lives of those around me. I need your help to make this dream come true though. I have a signed contract to buy the Power Sports building to turn the space into My Cup Runneth Over. I realize that this project is a huge undertaking. However, I do believe with all my heart that it is necessary. This is important, not only for today but for the future. Changes need to be made so that inclusion is a real thing, not just a word. So why not me? Why not in Perry?
My name is Marcy Wolcott-Hatch. I have worked for BOCES as a Special Education Teaching Assistant for approximately 15 years. During that time, I have realized that there is a massive void once these students age out of school at the age of 21. While they’re in school, we do all we can so that they have the necessary skills to be successful at whatever they choose to do after graduation. However, I have seen them graduate and return to their communities and struggle to find employment and community involvement.
I have lived in Perry my entire life and love my community. I have raised 3 amazing children in Perry. My youngest is currently 21 years old and is disabled. When it came time for him to graduate I found myself searching for something meaningful for his life. Business owners are reluctant to have this population working in their establishment and I understand that. Parents of individuals with disabilities not only worry about today, but we struggle with the future. We need to have a giant circle to surround our children in order for them to live their best lives. I believe that Perry is the perfect community for this Non-profit.
This is where “My Cup Runneth Over” comes in. This Non-Profit will function as the bridge between our individuals with disabilities and our community. There needs to be a place where everyone can spend time together in a safe environment. “My Cup Runneth Over” will be a Coffee Shop, A Gift Shop, A Membership Produce Market, A Redemption Center and more.
