The havoc caused by supertyphoon Rai (Odette) has left the community of Dumanjug to be surreal and devastating. Situated in the southern part of the Cebu province, the west side of this town geographically facing the Tañon Strait that separates the island from Negros Island. At 9pm Dec. 16, 2021, Typhoon Odette made a landfall over Carcar Cebu with sustained winds of 185 kph and gustiness at 255kph. It was moving towards Dumanjug, Cebu at a speed of 30kph crossing Tañon Strait towards Gihulngan, Negros Oriental, raising the signal of the town to 5. Power supply were cut, telecommunication signals were hampered, and getting updates were close to none.

The news of the aftermath is deeply disheartening and saddening. Uprooted trees, severely damaged houses, high water level, and an unimaginable scene you might just see somehow on films.

The resiliency and steadfastness of this community is notable however, with the destruction brought by the strong winds and heavy rains of Super typhoon Rai (Oddete), the community is in dire need of help and donations to withstand and bounce back from this calamity.
