In remembrance of LaShay Martin…
It is with great sadness to have to post this, as a beautiful soul had gained her wings too soon. LaShay was a strong woman. She was one who felt deeply and who loved fiercely. She was both soft but powerful, she was both practical and spiritual. A strong woman in her essence is a gift to the world.
For all who knew LaShay, they knew what a vibrant, sweet, selfless and kind soul she was. A dedicated, hard working and determined individual. Someone who always had a smile on her face despite any challenges she may be facing.
LaShay was not only a strong woman. She was a strong mother. A Mother who loved her boys endlessly and always put them first. They were always her main focus, even over her own needs.
A mother is more than a memory, she is a living presence. She is the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She is the smell of a certain food you remember, perfume that she wore. She is the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well. She is your breath in the air on a cold winter’s day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep and the colors of a rainbow.
A mother lives inside of your laughter. A mother shows every emotion; happiness, sadness, fear, love, hate, excitement, joy... and all the while, hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She is the place you came from, your first home. She is the map you follow with every step you take. A mother is your first love, your first friend, and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space....not even death.
LaShay was an incredible friend to so many, she touched so many lives with her lively spirit. She was always there for everyone and willing to lend and ear when in need of venting. I would love to get all the funny things she would send me in messenger, it was like she just knew when you needed a lift in spirit.
She has a deep rooted passion for taking care of others and helping people who needed it. She loved her job in private home health care, it was her livelihood. Which is why a career as a caregiver was so fitting for her. That want and desire to care for others is a characteristic sometimes hard to find, one in which she embodied wholeheartedly.
My hope is that we all can find peace in knowing she is no longer in pain. That she will protect us all from above and smile down on all of us. Let us all find comfort in the wonderful memories we all have shared with her over the years. May she sing, dance and shine her beautiful rays of light for the world to see.
LaShay is survived by her two sons, Easton, 18 and Kylo, 6. Her sons made up the entirety of her world. This Go Fund Me account has been set up in her name for her sons.
