Fundraising for SIA ( spinal injuries association)

Hi, please read this story.

On the 31st of October, my sister Bryony was involved in a horrific car accident that resulted in life-changing injuries.

Bryony was dragged out of the car by someone she thought loved and cared for her. He didn't.
On arriving at the local hospital, none of us knew the extent of her injuries, not even the hospital at the time. While Bry was transported to Stoke hospital, she died twice, but my sister fought to keep going.
In Stoke, Bryony was rushed to theatre immediately for an operation to save her life. This is when we found out the extent of Bryony's life-changing injuries.
Bryony suffered a torn diaphragm, 2 punctured lungs , severed aorta, and broken ribs; her stomach and intestines were so severely damaged parts had to be removed to save her life. On top of all this, she suffered from a spinal cord injury that caused paralysis from her hips down. My sister is only 28 years old.

Bryony remained in Stoke hospital in ICU for three months. This was an unbearable time for us all as a family as we weren't sure if Bry would make it, but Bry, despite all her injuries, fought for her life once again.

Realizing that my sister would never walk again was heartbreaking, but it was even more heartbreaking seeing my sister go through all this alone. Due to covid, we as a family couldn't go and stay with her, to support her, to help her through the dark days.

Bry was moved to Gobwen, where she stayed for a short time. Eventually, she was moved to STEPS rehabilitation, a life-changing experience for Bry and us as a family. Bryony has changed physically and mentally due to the supportive staff. They have been amazing, so we all feel the least we can do is try and raise as much money as possible to show our appreciation towards this fantastic centre ( SIA) . Hopefully, the money, we raise will benefit people in similar situations like Bry in the future.

On the 20th of August, after ten months in hospital, Bry will compete with me in a Triathalon to celebrate how far she has come. Then, on the 23rd of August, the day we have all been waiting for, Bryony will finally be coming home to start her new life with a couple of changes, but I know how strong bryony is, and I know she will adapt to her new life just fine.
